Proffitts worked in partnership with the Friends of Broadhurst Park, artist Green Monster Arts and Manchester City Council to create a design for the sunken garden that was both robust and unique. The site incorporates a beautiful outdoor classroom seating area which was designed by Green Monster Arts with designs from local schools.

The seats have inlaid mosaics and images in relief around the sides which have been themed around nature. In addition to the classroom area, a mini arboretum has been created around the sunken garden which has specimen trees that give colour and interest year round with colourful bark, berries, blossom and fruits. The project was tendered and project managed by Proffitts. Phase 1 was completed in September 2012 and the tree planting in the winter of 2012/13. It is now a useable community facility that welcomes people of all ages to come and enjoy the space.

This project was completed in 2012.
