22.05.20 – Plans To Create a Community Food Growing Area

Hi all hows it going? Long time no hear! Just getting back into the swing of things with this project now and wanted to firstly draw your attention to the final plan, that was originally posted and that came out of the consultation we did with you guys in 2019 / early 2020. Here it is. As well as the meetings and the stand at the Gypsy Brook Family Fun Day we had over 60 questionnaire responses guiding us on the design stating an interest to get involved. This is a great number and we are now at a stage in reaching out to everyone to try and start getting a bit of a group together with the overall aim in making this project happen. Do you want to get involved? Do you know anyone who wants to get involved? Please share the link! The project is the development of a community food growing area, where people can access, nurture and grow their own foods or for their community. Its a great way to develop an interest / meet like minded people.

We’d like to find out what the local community think about the Sow. Grow. Eat project and we’d really like your thoughts about the proposed design of the facility. We want to make sure we capture as many ideas as possible in making any potential improvements. Please take a couple of minutes to look at the sketch below and answer the questions on the very short Hoyles Park Survey. The deadline for feedback is 15th March, 2019.

Thank you very much for your help!

We are delighted to start work on a food growing project within Hoyles Park, Bury. Working alongside Chesham Fold TRA and Bury Borough Council, over the next few months we will be consulting with local people and users of the park with regard to transforming a currently underused and neglected area of land within the part to a community run food growing area. The local community really can’t wait to get involved and have lots of ideas with regard to the space in terms of planting and layout. Over the next week or so we will share a design idea with you based on what people have said and gain your feedback so we can adapt and make changes to the final design. Watch this space!
