Hi all – right we now have a project fully secured to deliver on the ground. Although we didn’t attract any further funds from Aviva we did attract funding from Lancashire Environmental Fund, Newground Together, Rossendale Borough Council and Tesco carrier Bag scheme. The works will comprise of adding some new play equipment into the site, using the old bowling for informal games / ball games and refurbishing the underused / derelict tennis courts back into 1 x tennis court and an area where multiple games, such as football, netball, basketball can take place. The work will be going out to tender in the next 4 – 5 weeks and should be completed by end of May 2017 – just in time for summer 🙂

As you may know, this park is well used by the local community but through our extensive consultation, it became apparent that providing something for the juniors and teens was a priority. Currently there are very few facilities for older children. The existing play facilities only cater for under 8’s and there are no junior play units. The park now has the opportunity to win a share of funding from Aviva Community Fund. Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative in hundreds of regions across England and Wales. The scheme will see three community groups and projects in each of these regions awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags. You, the public, can vote in store from 27 February until 6 March on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards – and we think Loveclough Park Area is a very worthy cause – if you agree, please make sure you vote!

We have been working hard with the Limey Valley Environment Group (LVEG) to obtain funding for the project however we were unsuccessful with an application last year…… ‘never give up’ is our motto! Since then we are delighted to announce that we, and LVEG have recently been successful with two other funding applications and are awaiting decisions on two submissions.
One of the successful applications is from the TESCO ‘Bags of Help’ fund. This fund is raised by TESCO customers through the 5p bag charge and goes directly back into the local community. The amount we will be awarded will be decided by a customer vote, the more votes, the more funding.  Competition is against two other local projects but we don’t know what or who they are. Tesco have only just given permission for this to become public knowledge and we shall be updating our website and sharing this through social media to spread the word and get the community voting for the Loveclough Project.

Just a quick update. We are still working with Limey Valley Residents Association and Limey Valley Environmental Group towards obtaining funding for Phase 1 of the project. This is creation of a new junior play area and improvements to the main entrance.

Many thanks to everyone who responded to the most recent consultation – we had a fantastic response and we will now revise the drawing to take account of the comments we received.
Fundraising for this project will begin in the New Year and we will keep our eyes peeled for any opportunities that come up.

Questionnaires will be sent to local residents shortly to get their feedback and general opinion of the park and where improvements can be made 🙂
We met with Rossendale Borough Council and representatives from Crawshawbooth Environment Group last month. We have been asked to work with them to try and improve the park area there. As you can see, it looks pretty bad and because of this it’s become very underused and neglected. Over the next few months we will work with Crawshawbooth Environment Group, local residents and Limey Valley Residents Association to determine what improvements should take place on this existing public play area site.
