In partnership and under the direction of Nelson Neighbourhood Management team this project aimed to work directly with young people and gather their ideas / thoughts on improving facilities within Walverden Park.

The project ran over six weeks during the school summer break culminating in a small exhibition on the seventh week. As a vehicle; football and art sessions took place at Walverden Park, Nelson, using the MUGA (multi use games area) situated in the park for the football sessions and all the art sessions (apart from the first) were based in the nearby United Reformed church adjacent to the park.

Both projects were aimed at targeting local young people from the nearby terraced housing. Young people from the ages of eight to sixteen were targeted, with the aim to encourage feedback on the park facilities and the young people’s thought’s on improvements.

The sessions ran on an open access basis with young people ‘dropping in’ on the activities.

This project was completed in 2010.
