Brierfield Children’s Allotment, Pendle

Brierfield Children’s Allotment, Pendle

This project is now complete – thank you to everyone for the support!

The Brierfield Children’s Allotment was indicated as a priority project for Pendle Council under the Central Gateway Funding in 2012. Proffitts worked alongside The Family Tree Centre and Walton Lane Children’s Centre (Brierfield) to get the Children’s Allotment back up and running as it had fallen into disrepair. We worked very hard to organise volunteer days each week to ensure that there was always someone on site to clear beds, carry out minor repairs, paint, mend sheds etc.  Further funding meant that we were able to employ Pendle Environmental Action Group (EAG team) to strim the grass, carry out minor repairs to fencing and fit a new base for the greenhouse.  The GPA funding also bought materials for an open day and a series of summer activities were held in the summer holidays last year.
Through the Central Gateway Monies and additional monies from Lancashire County Council we pulled together a further application for funding (which we were successful with!) and this has led to many, many more improvements this year.
We are absolutely delighted and honoured to be receiving an award from the Green Partnership Funding for completing the GPA project – this is the icing on the cake!
