Clod Lane Park, Haslingden
29.06.22
It’s been a while since we finished this project but we were thrilled to get an email this week from a local resident thanking us for our work at Clod Lane 🙂
”Just a quick note to say a very memorable day yesterday when my 5 year old mastered riding her bike with no pedals or stabilizers. Got me learning a little about the history of Clod Lane Park. It is a lovely clean and peaceful place. Thank you so much for your efforts.”

Many thanks to everyone who supported us especially the local residents, Tor View School and Broadway Primary School. Huge thanks also goes to all of the fantastic funders including Lancashire Environmental Fund, Viridor Credits, Newground Together, Lancashire County Council, Tesco and Rossendale Borough Council. We hope you all love your new play area!

Friends of Clod Lane Park and staff from Tesco worked on the finishing touches of the Clod Lane Play Area yesterday in preparation for the Grand Opening which is planned for Saturday 24.03.18 between 1.45 and 3pm.
The work included planting bulbs and other plants and distributing the invites to local people in preparation for the big day. Thank you Friends of Clod Lane and Tesco. It was a big help and much appreciated! Thumbs up!

Getting there – new path surfacing being laid at Clod Lane!
20.3.2017
Just a quick update for you – the project has been tendered now and a contractor is in the process of being appointed. Work will be starting in the next 2 weeks to remove dead trees and take out the old play equipment. Access to the site is going to be limited for the next 8-12 weeks for safety reasons though we will try to keep it open where possible.
It will also start to look a little muddy too. You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs! This is only temporary and the end result will be worth it!

“Great news! Funding has been secured for new play facilities at Clod Lane Play Area from Lancashire Environmental Fund, Rossendale Borough Council, Tesco, Newground Together and Viridor Credits. Play equipment for the site has been chosen by the group and tenders for the installation and surfacing works will soon be available on the Rossendale Borough Council website. It is hoped that work will start on site towards the end of March and be completed by June. We can look forward to the path no longer being flooded – hurrah!”

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!
Do you know about the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ scheme?
The money raised from the 5p bag charge in Tesco stores in England, Wales and Scotland is being used to support community participation in the development and use of open spaces.
Projects that will get the green light as a result of the funding will include volunteer training, physical improvements of open spaces, equipment purchases, community events and sports and leisure activities.
Administration of the local funding is being managed by the community charity with a green heart, Groundwork, which specialises in transforming communities and the local environment for the better.
The ‘Friends of Clod Lane Park’ now have the opportunity to raise up to £5000 to improve the play area through the Tesco Carrier Bag Fund.
All we need is your vote when you pop into Tesco to do your shopping. It’s that easy!!
The monies would be able to provide a new piece of play equipment or contribute to the seating or wetland area for wildlife. Whatever it goes to it can only make the play area better for the local children, families and Tor View School.
Please help by making that vote! Thank you very much! 🙂

Proffitts met with a group of interested residents a few weeks ago to look at the responses received from the community consultation and to look at the next steps and agree some actions.
The design has been revised taking on board comments received from every response we received. Click on the link below to view the revised design
Proffitts will use this as a ‘working’ design to use to apply for funding to try to raise sufficient funds to create the play area. This is a lengthy process and often takes several years if successful.
We are hoping that interested residents will come together to form a ‘Friends of Clod Lane’ community group which would assist greatly in applying for funding. If you are interested in getting involved in a new community group, please contact Rachael at [email protected]
