Fallbarn Play Area, Rawtenstall

19.01.2017

This project is now complete – thank you to everyone for the support!

19.12.2016

The new junior play area at Fallbarn (which was launched in October this year) has just been made more welcoming by new signage designed by pupils at Balladen Community Primary School. Pupils from years 2, 3, 5 and 6 all provided designs for the signs and the winners were chosen by members of the Friends of Fallbarn Park and staff from Proffitts – Investing in Communities. It was a very proud moment from the children and their parents too! 🙂

A special mention to Groundwork Landscapes – they were the contractors for this project and helped install the plaques too!

just in case you didn’t see it, here’s a piece from The Rossendale Free Press about the mayor officially opening the play area! Click here

The new junior play area at Fallbarn proved a success with the community when it was officially launched on Saturday. The Mayor of Rossendale, Councillor Granville Morris, was on hand to cut the ribbon and declare the park open.

The Friends of Fallbarn have worked alongside Proffitts – Investing in Communities and Rossendale Borough Council for the past 2 years to raise funds to upgrade and improve the play facilities in the park. Funding from Viridor Credits, Newground Together, Lancashire Environmental Fund and Rossendale Borough Council totalling £85,000 was raised for the new facilities and work was completed in September this year.

Andy Smith from the ‘Friends of Fallbarn’ said:

“The group have worked hard for the past few years to promote the park and to raise funding to carry out the improvements. We’re really pleased that the new play area has proved a hit with the community – they’ve waited a long time for this. We’d also like to thank everyone who has supported us on this journey. It’s been worth the wait”

Don’t forget, you can keep up to date with everything they’re up to by liking their ‘Friends of Fallbarn Park’ Facebook page.

The Friends of Fallbarn will be officially launching their new play area on Fallbarn Crescent in Rawtenstall this Saturday 29 October at 11am.

As some of you may know, the project included installation of new junior play equipment and improving access around the site.

The play area cost was around £85,000 and was funded by Viridor Credits, Newground Together, Lancashire Environmental Fund and Rossendale Borough Council – the funding has transformed the play area into an exciting space for young people in the area.

Come and see for yourself this weekend – we hope to see some of you there!

All the funding for Phase 1 of the project to create new junior play facilities at Fallbarn Play Area has been provisionally secured. Well done to The Friends of Fallbarn for their hard work in helping to secure these grants.

It is hoped that if all goes to plan, works will start on site in the new year and be completed by the spring.

Fallbarn questionnaire

Fallbarn Play Area, Rawtenstall  is in need of some TLC!

Working alongside the Friends of Fallbarn group we are currently consulting with park users and local residents to determine how people would like to see this space used. From this feedback, we will draw up an initial sketch design.   We will then give local people the opportunity to feedback on proposals. The immediate area will be leafleted and we will host open meetings to ensure everyone has the opportunity to steer the project. Once all the community consultation has been carried out we will try and raise the funds necessary to improve the space.
