Children from St. James CP School and Moss Side Primary School were asked for their help to design a brand new logo for Paradise Park. Certificates for the winners and the runner up will be presented at the park this week where the Friends of Paradise Park, South Ribble Borough Council and the chidren will be planting trees. This is the winning design chosen by the FoPP, SRBC and Proffitts. The project is funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Awards for All.

As part of the park improvements project, made possible by grant funding from Awards for All, Proffitts are working with the Friends of Paradise Park group and South Ribble Borough Council to design new Interpretation signs and lecterns for the park. Some great ideas have been put forward so far and the group will decide on the final design in the new year. The group will also work with the local school children in the new year to hold a competition to design a new group logo. It’s all happening in the new year!

Working with The Friends of Paradise Park and South Ribble Council, we are delighted to say that grant funding has been secured from ‘Awards for All’ to carry out park improvements and community workshops. Improvements to the park will begin with improved signage to the park entrance way and a noticeboard will be installed along with the creation of a wet lands area. We will also be working with the group to deliver social media training and to assist with a community event in the park next year.

Working with The Friends of Paradise Park, Leyland and South Ribble Council, we aim to assist with improvements and upgrades to the park and encourage more people from the community to use the park and get involved with the Friends group. Paradise Park is set in 20 acres split into woodland areas and fields. It forms a green corridor between Longmeanygate and Paradise Lane in Moss Side area of town.
How the park will be improved :
Improved signage at the entrance on Paradise Lane and other access points to the park.
Interpretation signage to direct people to the different areas of the park including the boardwalk to the pond and the fruit tree area.
Signage that highlights and explains the various aspects of work that have been carried out by the group at the park.
Noticeboard – to inform the public of the groups activities and how people can get involved.
Creation of a wetland area that makes use of the topography and natural drainage on the park.
Twitter training, website & help with social media – The Friends group have asked for some help with social media so that they can promote the park and raise the groups profile. They can then reach the wider community to attract more people to use the park and get involved with activities.
The improvements will be designed to be low maintenance. It will be designed to provide children with a safe exciting environment to play. The creation of a nature trail would encourage younger children to play and interact with the natural environment.
