We’re delighted to share some really positive news about the Lane Head Lane project.
Rossendale Borough Council has approved the next stage of the project, with £70,000 of external funding confirmed to help deliver improvements to this important green space! This is a fantastic step forward for the project and for everyone who has worked hard to develop the plans, particularly the amazing volunteers at Bacup Pride.
This is excellent news, and the team is still working hard to find the additional funding needed to support the wider programme of heritage, environmental and community activities that we would like to deliver alongside the physical improvements.
It’s great that the project is moving in the right direction and we hope to be able to share more good news as it progresses! 🌳☀️🌳

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to get involved in the consultation and share their thoughts and ideas for the future of Lane Head Lane.
The feedback received has been extremely helpful in shaping the proposals and identifying the improvements and activities that local people would most like to see taken forward.
The next stage of the project is to explore and apply for funding to help turn these plans into reality. Securing funding for projects like this can take some time, so we ask everyone to please be patient while this work takes place.

We’re delighted to be working alongside Bacup Pride, Newground Together and Rossendale Borough Council on their project to improve Lane Head Lane. Suggested improvements include adding interpretation so visitors know more about the history of the site and ledger stones, planting native wildflowers and hedgerows to improve biodiversity and habitats, adding new pathways, and carrying out tree works and woodland surveys.
The project team will soon be sharing their masterplan for the area, and they’ll be asking visitors and residents to share their feedback about the proposals.
