17.10.2013 Just a quick update – the group planted a mini orchard last winter and this apple is their very first fruit!!

Work is likely to start on site for Phase 1 (which includes creation of new paths and the sensory garden) in late September/early October. This will be followed by Phase 2 – the planting works in Winter 2012/13. The planting includes creation of a community orchard, a tree lined avenue, wildflower meadows and bulb planting. There will be several opportunities for the community to get involved in the planting days – keep an on the Madeley Centre noticeboards and local press for updates.

Works were completed in December 2012 with additional bulb planting being completed in Spring 2013 and wild flower seeding in Summer 2013. The result – an attractive, useable space that can be used by the whole community throughout the year, including seasonal events and markets.
