We’re looking forward to being part of Accrington Youth Fest on Saturday 15th August, from 10am–3pm in Accrington Town Centre. 🛹🚴🛴
It’s set to be a fantastic free day packed with activities including BMX, skate park, a climbing wall, breakdancing, interactive art, a teenage market and much more.
The Proffitts team will also be there to chat about the exciting plans for the new St James’ Wheeled Sports Area. If you’re interested in skateboarding, scootering, BMX riding, roller skating, or simply want to find out more about the project, we’d love you to come and say hello👋🏼 .
We’ll be sharing the latest proposals, answering questions and listening to your ideas to help create a fantastic new facility for local young people and families.

We’re delighted to be working alongside Hyndburn Borough Council on exciting plans to improve the existing St James’ wheeled sports area in Accrington.
The current skatepark has served the local community well over the years, but it’s now time to give it a new lease of life. We’re looking forward to creating a space that’s bigger, better and more welcoming for everyone who enjoys wheeled sports.
The ambition is to create an exciting destination that caters for all wheeled sports users, whether you ride a BMX, scooter, skateboard or inline skates, and whether you’re taking your very first drop-in or have years of experience. We want the new facility to be a place that people of all ages and abilities can enjoy, with something for everyone.
Before any designs are finalised, we want to hear from the people who know the park best. A public consultation will be launching soon, giving local riders, families and the wider community the chance to tell us what changes and improvements they’d most like to see.
We’ll be sharing details of how to get involved as soon as the consultation goes live, so keep an eye on this page for updates. We’ll also be posting regular project news as the plans develop, so you can follow the journey from the first ideas through to the finished wheeled sports area here!
