Staghills Estate Improvement Project, Newchurch
25.06.2026
We’re delighted to be working alongside Rossendale Borough Council to deliver a new project that will improve access through the Staghills Estate in Newchurch.
Work is expected to begin in October 2026 and will focus on improving the well-used footpath linking the Staghills Estate with The Heys, creating a safer, more welcoming and attractive route for residents and visitors.
The improvements will include repairs to the footpath surface, cutting back overgrown vegetation, checking and upgrading existing lighting, installing new wayfinding signage, and planting native bulbs, wildflowers and woodland shrubs to enhance the local environment and encourage biodiversity. Bird boxes will also be installed throughout the woodland to help support local wildlife.
The project is being funded through the Pride in Place Fund, which supports improvements to local places that help communities feel safer, greener and more connected.
As part of the project, there will also be opportunities for local residents, schools and young people to get involved in a range of community activities, including planting sessions and creative art workshops.
We’re looking forward to working with the community to bring these improvements to life and will be sharing more information about how you can get involved over the coming months.
Watch this space for updates! 🌳☀️🌼
