The weather has been awful…but great to see that the team have now tarmacked some of the paths. The perimeter path isn’t finished yet, but we hope everything on site will be completed end Feb/early March! 🙂

The play area work is nearing completion, but the frost, the snow, and the stormy weather have unfortunately delayed the surfacing works. The work on the perimeter path is coming along nicely though, and we’re looking forward to the whole site opening for visitors again really soon!

Bit of a change in the temperatures this week…the cold weather means that the plan to start some work including the surfacing will be delayed. But, the team are still making progress where ever they can. Fingers crossed that the temperature begins to rise again, and the team can get back on track ❄️

The Summerseat play area site looks very calm now, but we’ll see some big changes over the next few weeks. Thanks to everyone for their patience and continued support as the team work hard on site. The contractors hope to be finished by the end of December, so not too long to go!

It’s pouring down. but the contractors at Summerseat Play Area are making progress, and hope to be finished by the end of December 🙂

Thanks to everyone for their patience and continued support as we work on site. Thanks also to the brilliant teams at FFC Community Action Fund and Suez Communities Fund for funding the project alongside Bury Council – we wouldn’t have got this far without them!

Work to create the new play area will begin on 4th September!

During the works, the wider site will remain open. Barriers will be installed around work areas for safety, but machinery and vehicles will be moving around the space on weekdays so please do take extra care if you’re visiting. Weather permitting, the team are hoping to be finished by the end of December – but we’ll keep you posted on here, so do keep checking back for updates.

Funding for the Summerseat Play Area project has been secured. The work has been out for tender, and has now been awarded to a local contractor. We’re really hoping that work will begin on site in May 2023 and, as soon as we have the start date confirmed, we’ll let you know!

It’s been a while since we’ve updated you about the Summerseat Play Area project, but work has been continuing! A funding application has now been completed and submitted, and we hope to have more news in the next few months. We’ll update you again as soon as we find out more 🙂

We’ve had some fantastic play area designs from the children at Summerseat Methodist School. Suggestions for the space have been passed to the play space designer and she will come up with a plan and share it with everyone soon. We had a really positive meeting with the head teacher at Summerseat Methodist School this morning. We talked about raising the profile of the play area in Summerseat and also about involving the school children in the design process. The children will be helping us design the space by answering a few questions about play in Summerseat and even drawing their ideal play space – we can’t wait to see what they come up with!

As well as the feedback from the school children, it would be really helpful to get feedback from as many other adults, families, park users and visitors as we can. We are now working with The Summerseat Park Project group on a plan to improve the Summerseat play area. There is already a lot of local interest in the project, and we plan to reach out and consult with the wider community about the play area design over the next few months. We love helping communities make the most of their outside play space and we’re all really looking forward to working on this one.
