Wheeled Sport Project, Lancashire

Client: Lancashire County Council Young Peoples Service

Completion: March 2010

Value: £4000
Funding: Lancashire County Council Young Peoples Service (£2005)  and Proffitts Investing in Communities (Gift in Kind value – £2000)

By encouraging the use of current and newly developed open access wheeled sport provision in Rossendale, this project aims to work with young people with similar interests from around the valley. Bringing together young people from different geographical areas we will break down the inter town rivalry which historically has been an issue in the valley.

Young people will be supported and encouraged to use their own enterprise and initiative, by forming an advisory group and assisting in the planning and delivery of a trip to one of  Europe’s best indoor skatepark in Stockport (www.ukskatepark.com). Giving not only the members of the steering group the opportunity for personal development, but also encouraging better communication between all the young people involved through consultation and evaluation of the sessions.

The first trip is due to happen on the 12.03.11. The next step for this project is to continue this work and encourage the young people to self manage and keep the momentum going through the submission of an Awards for All grant.

Part of the project was hold a logo competition. Please see the two last images on the picture screen to the right. These are the winning entries. Please click on the images to enlarge.
