Celebration in Whitworth

Whitworth Memorial gardens were officially reopened this weekend, 90 years after they were first completed. The aim of the project was to refurbish and renew the gardens to encourage more people to use them. Whitworth and Healey Horticultural Society worked tirelessly to obtain the grant funding from Community Spaces as well as create all the new formal beds.

Other work included removing and replacing trees and shrubs with help from Rossendale Borough Council. Proffitts worked with the group on the designs which incorporate a large space for performances and bands.
