Military Mountain Bikers Update
Lots have been happening over the last few months and the project is moving forward at a rapid pace. We have now moved into the Annexe up in Bacup Park and are currently refurbishing the building there. Martyn who’s post is supported by The Poppy Factory will then begin his mountain bike leader training and once completed we will then begin delivering mountain bike sessions starting in August of this year.
The project has also been supported by Lancashire Young Peoples Service by loaning a fleet of mountain bikes and equipment – in return we will maintain and store the equipment on their behalf.
Crown paints kindly donated a large quantity of paint for the building and decoration and refurbishment of the rooms is underway assisted with the help from Guideline engineering based in Waterfoot who have helped us with making the windows secure.
We have also met with CTC – a national cycling charity who has offered free training to both the MMB team and partner agencies. This is an exciting opportunity for us to work with a national organisation and we hope we can develop this relationship further and help bring the excellent trails in Rossendale to a wider audience.
Very positive feedback has been received and talks are continuing with various armed forces charities regarding how the project can help and assist members of the armed forces community and further news regarding our progress will follow shortly.
If in the meantime you would like to find out any more information regarding the project or feel you could help in any way please do not hesitate to contact us.
