Us again!!! As you’ve probably seen, we are helping to raise awareness of several projects to win a share of funding from #TescoBagsofHelp. This one is equally as important – this time, it is centred around environmental and bulb planting activities – enlisting the help of schools in the local community. Who doesn’t want to brighten up their neighbourhood? Well, if this is something you’d like to see happen, all you have to do is make sure you get a small, blue round token from the cashier at Tesco……take the token to the voting box (usually placed near the store entrance) and put the token into the #Schoolroots section. Easy! And it will take just a few seconds too. Promise!! Even if you’ve already voted, then vote again. There are no rules on how many times you can vote. Thanks for your time in reading this……all funding for any given project is crucial and it takes hardly any time to vote and make a difference

Hi everyone. We are working towards a new project here at Proffitts. And we need your help! To be in with a chance of a share of funding via the Tesco Bags for help scheme, we need you to vote for #SchoolRoots

This project will centre around environmental and bulb planting activities, with the help of schools in their local communities. It’s all about brightening up and encouraging interest in their neighbourhoods.

We will be offering regular structured sessions throughout the year to a range of schools spanning out of Bury and Gtr Manchester. Sessions include
activities such as outdoor learning through planting bulbs and whips and learning about wildlife and the importance of maintenance (as well as
associated activities such as recycled craft by making things like bug hotels, bird feeders and houses).

Through delivering similar projects in the past its always proved a success and the teachers, as well as the children, have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Through evaluation of past schemes it seems to filter into the general work of the school as well as the children’s family by taking what they have learnt and planting in their own gardens with the help of their parents /carers. A simple concept but an effective one we think.

The will give children a sense of pride in their community which will be amplified in the spring when their work blooms!
